- Our Briggs & Stratton 40N8770087G1 (656 cc) engine is compatible as a replacement for the Briggs & Stratton 40H777-0116-E1 (656 cc) engine installed on the CRAFTSMAN ZT 7000 (107.277740) mower.
- NOTICE:
- If your engine model number starts with 40 , it means the engine has a 656 cc displacement . Both your old engine and our new replacement have the same 656 cc displacement .
- Our 20 gross HP engine provides sufficient power to replace your old engine. If you don’t mind having slightly more or less horsepower than your original engine, feel free to proceed with the purchase.

- Notice: The following is for mower with a separate choke cable:
- Your mower may have a separate cable to connect to the choke device of your engine. Our engine has a Choke-a-matic feature.
- What this means is that the choke and throttle device connect to the
- same cable. If you push the throttle lever all the way up, it will choke
- the engine. So you will have to mark on your throttle lever where is
- the maximum point. If you pass that point, you will choke the engine. We
- think you may be able to transfer the choking device/control from your
- old engine to the new one or you can always get a combined
- choke-throttle lever with cable from a local mower shop that fits your
- mower.
